The Megafish Series...

I've been busy with a show for National Geographic which is to feature some of the big freshwater species of the Amazon river system. This meant heading for Brazil with Zeb Hogan to find Piraracu and other megafish species. Zeb's Megafishes project is very cool, read more here...

So much happenned on this expedition that I thought I'd break it into a few entries. It was a real adventure, and not all of the good kind!

We flew into Belem, near the Amazon delta and chartered a flight to Mexiana island, home of the fabled Piraracu, supposedly the biggest freshwater fish in the world. Working in the Amazon is quite amazing, but it has its drawbacks. Ultra humid conditions and flash rainstorms make working from a small boat even more difficult, especially if you discover that you have the wrong HD tape for the camera...

I loved the Megafish Series about the Piraracu of the Amazon! My nephew & I watched the show together & we really enjoyed learning about these HUGE air-breathing fish. Thanks for all the hard work you did on making this show!

It was a really difficult job, I got malaria during that shoot. NG is busy making another Megafish show, this time up in Mongolia with the giant Taiman. They asked me to shoot it but I'll be abroad on another job.
